Why pomegranate is awkward to sell online
Fresh pomegranate doesn't travel through a parcel network the way dates do. Dates are already dried and forgiving of a rough courier handoff; a fresh pomegranate can crack or bruise from the same handling a date box shrugs off. Most online grocers either skip fresh pomegranate entirely or ship it only within same-day or next-day delivery zones, never on a multi-day courier route.
What ships versus what doesn't
Whole, firm pomegranate can survive a short courier trip if it's cushioned properly — bubble wrap around each individual fruit, since fruit knocking against fruit inside a loosely packed box is where most transit cracking happens. Edge padding alone doesn't stop that. Pre-packed aril tubs almost never survive courier shipping in usable condition; they need a genuine cold chain from packing to doorstep, which most standard delivery services don't offer.
Ordering at the right ripeness stage
A pomegranate picked at the right ripeness and shipped whole will keep improving slightly in transit, unlike most fruit. One picked too early to survive a longer shipping window often ends up under-ripe and sour on arrival, with no way to fix that after the fact — ripening doesn't continue meaningfully once it's off the tree the way it does with a banana or an avocado.
What "fresh" means on a 2-3 day delivery
A listing that says "fresh" but ships on a 2-3 day standard courier is describing the product at pack time, not at arrival. That's a fair description as long as the seller has picked a variety and firmness that holds up over that window — the gap between those two claims is where most delivery disappointment actually comes from, not the fruit itself.
Ordering pomegranate and dates together
Dates ship without any of these constraints, so pairing a pomegranate order with a dates order on the same checkout doesn't add shipping risk to the dates side, and a buyer gets both in one delivery instead of two separate waits.
Kurma Online stocks dates by grade for exactly that kind of combined order — browse the dates fruit range or see the wider healthy food category.
